The appearance of the maid Auxiliaro
image above depicts an infantryman Auxiliario Batavo, the overall appearance is very close to what will become a common aspect of the Roman troops: long sleeves fringed tunic is a fashion for people beyond the Italian peninsula that will soon take hold in the military 's undoubted practicality (especially in cold countries, of course ..) and the military will the civilian population.
The adoption of the prevailing armor mesh or metal shavings that these troops were to assume characteristics of light infantry or heavy, as needed, making them similar to the legionaries of the third century. AD when the construction of the armor segments (probably the "Clibani" mentioned in certain writings ..) gets more and more rare, is modified and then disappears.
The shield is of simple construction, flat planks of wood (the fine "Scutum", three thin layers of wood glued and folded, is reserved almost exclusively for legionnaires ..) and oval.
The image depicts the "Toracomacus" or "subarmalis" quell'indumento that is filled with felted wool which was worn under the armor to help cushion the blows. At the ends were sewn features strips of leather (even overlapping of different length ..) that symbolize the Roman soldier in the Imperial era.
